What is it that binds us to this place as to no other? It is not the well or the bell or the stone walls. or the crisp October nights. No, our love for this place is based upon the fact that it is as it was meant to be, The University of the People.
Charly, the name of the owner of Leo's restaurant was Elias Eliatis (I am not sure of the spelling but it is close enough). I used to eat breakfast and lunch there when it was located at the back of the bus station, where the Franklin Hotel now stands. I worked at the Univeristy National Bank which was across the street from the bus station in the site of the present day Hamm's restaurant.
